Review
"Anarchy Comics was caught between the final gasps of the hippie era and the opening blasts of punk. The stories captured the moment by firing satiric vollies in both directions." —www.reason.com"In the late '70s and early '80s we briefly had a comic voice that told our history (IWW, Spanish Civil War, Kronstadt), illustrated our culture (Brecht, communes, Yippies), and skewered our nemeses (Lenin, Mao, Trotsky), all with a large but necessary dose of self-deprecating humor. That was Anarchy Comics, and finally we can read it again!" —Josh MacPhee, founder, www.justseeds.org"Anarchy Comics was an education I never got in school. I learned more deep truths about the way human megatribes operate (while at the same time being greatly amused by the superb art and writing) than from any textbook. Decades later, the insights I gleaned from these brilliant comics still affect the way I view global events." —Mark Frauenfelder, founder, boingboing.net"The various parodies, jams, and educational comics are a wonderful assortment of styles and truly show how diverse an ideology anarchy can be among artists." —Chris Estey, KEXP"Besides being an important event in the history of comics and underground culture, PM's republication of these comix gives an entirely new generation to read, appreciate and be inspired by the art, humor and intelligence that went into them." —www.counterpunch.org"Anarchy Comics contains work from some of the best underground-comic artists of the late twentieth century, given free rein to snipe at authority to their heart's content." —www.tcj.com"Founder Jay Kinney and an international assembly of like-minded cartoonists filled the comics' pages with intelligent urgings for readers to think for themselves and eschew governmental systems that restrain the individual—and thus society at large—all while remaining entertaining, informative, and never preachy." —Publishers Weekly

Another reviewer has slagged this collection on e-book. The paper edition is evidently the one to buy-- it's perfection. I bought all the issues a million years ago when they were first published. (they're in a box in the basement.). This compendium features the whole run. Many of my favorite artists-- Spain, Paul Mavrides, Jay Kinney, etc.-- are here, and it's all good. Kinney's intro is informative and fun, and the reproductions are sharp.I'm a huge fan of Kinney's. I subscribed to his "Gnosis" magazine, and his writing and art are always first-rate. While not an anarchist myself (just a knee-jerk lefty), I've learned a lot about anarchism from these strips and laughed a lot as well. The snark factor is high, and even 30 years later, a lot of these harangues are still completely germane. My kiddies were either unborn or in diapers when they were first published, but they now enjoy reading them as well. A welcome addition to my library.
OK classic anarchist comix
A gem that merits a place in one's collection, and an example of the graphic novel's relevance as an art form.
In the Kindle format, this product is UNREADABLE.I do NOT understand why the scanned pages from the comic are so small.I have tried to view it on my Ipad and PC and there is much I can't even see.The Kindle version needs to be fixed, or removed from the site.
I just purchased this comic last night and while I really enjoy the content I find that the formatting needs a considerable amount of fixing. First, each page is not displayed as a page, or a collection of images but as one single image requiring the reader to zoom in on the image and then move the image around the screen in order to read. This makes it next to impossible to read on my kindle touch, and my kindle pc app (which seems to lack the zoom feature). Leaving my smartphone as the only device I can read this on. Second, even though I can zoom in to read the comic on my smartphone the image resolution is so low that nearly all the text is blurry, some of which is completely unreadable. Do yourself a favor and just buy the paperback version, you'll save yourself a huge headache.
I made a mistake which I will avoid in future, and maybe some others can avoid the same mistake. Comic books are definitely not meant for kindle. I could not view the pics well, and the text was so difficult to read no matter the zoom I used. Consequently, I can not give this product a rating...
