This book is a pretty good, basic guide to scholarships available around the country. The organization is somewhat logical but the content, eligibility for scholarship as well as when the scholarship is due, tends to be a bit off. Make sure you check each scholarship before applying. Personally, I have gone through and made a spreadsheet of scholarships and am going through them all to check for content. I would suggest any other users of this book do the same. All in all, I would describe this book as a step in the right direction but I could easily see how this book is not worth the investment for a lot of people especially considering there are some really good online resources like Cappex available for free.
This book not only lists SO MANY scholarships but also has good information about the entire process of applying for scholarships and how best to use this book.
Despite having the 2019 book all of the codes are invalid until the 2019 option is in the search box. Otherwise it is an amazing book. I used the 2018 version last year to search for scholarships.
Great book! Definitely purchase in Junior year to take advantage of the most scholarships. We missed out on a lot by not buying until Senior year. It is well organized, the index is incorrect. We have run into a few scholarships that are no longer available, but out of thousands, that isn't terrible. In just 10 minutes my son found at least 20 scholarships he was eligible for. Great deal!
Not impressed with the way this book is “organizedâ€. The State of Residence section is not even organized by state! I bought this thinking it would help direct and pinpoint my search, but it’s just as overwhelming as the internet.
There is nothing here that you could not find by spending 2 hours on the Internet. Some sections are thin - the disability section for example. Nothing about distance learning scholarships even mentioned. Very little for masters, Ph.D., and non-traditional students is included. This book is for high school students and their parents only. If you are older than 30 or disabled, as I am, it is a waste of time.
There is as much as 50% of my child’s college costs that can be covered - thanks to this book I now know what the scholarships are. I have four kids, the Savings is HUGE!
Awesome book for finding additional tuition assistance. Highly recommend for high school juniors and seniors.
