Notably, the AASHTO manual provides little or no positive guidance for separated bike facilities, but rather some cursory warnings about what not to do.Into the void left by AASHTO (The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials), steps NACTO (the National Association of City Transportation Officials). Building from the latest research on innovative bike treatments from cities around the US, the NACTO manual provides cities with detailed guidance on the safest, high quality bikeways for cyclists of all ages and abilities.
