This is a book about psychopaths, sociopaths and narcissists written by a person who is not a psychologist or therapist and like her I suffered at the hands of two psychopaths and read as many books as I could about the subject but I wish I had read this one first. She knows her material. She knows what the victim feels like and she seems to be able to also get inside the mind of the sociopath or psychopath. No matter what you have done for them or for how long and at what cost or what their biological relation is to you, when they are done with you, they will leave you in the gutter and never look back. I believe myself that they have no soul. Their pleasure is playing with your mind or getting whatever they can from people and that is all they live for. They are empty, angry shells. They never change. They are what they are forever. Don't wait around for an apology or gratitude or remorse. There is none. Like my therapist said, "Do not go up against them because they are all dangerous but NO CONTACT"
This IS an instruction manual...like a car manual, or a 1st aid manual....all the moving parts within the psychopath as well as a verbal map of how an empath becomes infected. "Do this" "Don't do this because <...>", etc., distilled from one's personal experience and more elaborated/scientific sources for immediate use.This work perfectly fits the bill, and worth every penny spent. I have read a-plenty of literature of various grades of "scientificity" and still this book opened my eyes on some matters I have misunderstood or just plain old overlooked.Thank you very much!
This short guide is a must-read for anyone finding him/herself involved with a sociopath. Succinct descriptions of this warped behavior and pointed explanations why an empath must respond a certain way (or not) is on point and outstanding. Most wise is the oft-repeated warnings to be mindful of personal safety and not to provoke the dangerous sociopath.
This book is a must read for any empath. If you are a person who can see "the good in everyone" you NEED to read this book. It is a disturbing awakening to an ilk of individuals that you never imagined existed. It will be a journey of understanding yourself, and as difficult as it is to believe (and you MUST believe - for it is true) that monsters do exist, and sometimes they play us for fools and win. They can't be fixed, don't even try. Read. Inform yourself. Use your knowledge to be a better you.
This book was recommended to me by my psychotherapist. I am the mother of a sociopath, and this book has helped me to understand that everything I have been through with my child and her sociopathic father were caused by something real. I wish I had found this book years ago. Thank you for publishing this. I am an intuitive and an empath and I now have a better understanding of the reality of this topic as it relates to my inability to heal my child's energy.
Great book! It gave me a very clear analysis and a roadmap about dealing with a mentally disturbed individual. I was married to a narcissistic psychopath, she is my ex now and I'm going through personal and financial recovery that would take between a year to two years as the book mentions. Everything this book explained about those disturbed persons is true and I've experienced first hand.I wish I read this book before getting into a faulty marriage, and I highly recommend this book. It is so interesting that I finished reading it in a couple of days!
I would like to thank the author for her insights. I've read many books on this topic after dealing with a series of bullies. This book was the most helpful for me. Better than books written by experts with PhDs who don't get it. The author lived it and survived it and understands the devastation caused by a pathological manipulator. I liked that she grouped these destructive personalities under one category. I get bored with clinical classications especially when the solution is the same. I've read a million books that give great detail on these personalities but no realistic solutions. Finally, a book that does just that - at least for me.
